Beach Guardians
Human Nature
Despite numerous warnings, many people still forget to apply sunscreen while enjoying a day at the beach. In an effort to promote sun safety and Human Nature's line of environmentally friendly sunscreen, our team was tasked with finding a friendly and innovative way to raise awareness about the importance of sun protection.
The result was "Beach Guardians", a team of specially trained dogs that were deployed to protect beachgoers from the harmful effects of the sun. These friendly dogs were trained to sniff out whether or not someone had applied sunscreen, and if not, they would alert Human Nature representatives to provide them with a free sample of their environmentally friendly sunscreen. The dog training began six months prior to the activation, with the most common and approachable breeds selected to ensure that beachgoers were comfortable with their presence. The dogs were trained to identify the most common chemicals in sunscreen and to react by sitting or lying down when the chemicals were or were not present. The campaign was primarily promoted through Facebook and Instagram, and was supported by a microsite where people could learn more about the Beach Guardians. The activation published in Philippines in 2020.

The Beach Guardians campaign successfully raised awareness about sun safety and the importance of using environmentally friendly sunscreen. By taking a friendly and innovative approach, Human Nature was able to promote their products in a positive way, while also encouraging beachgoers to protect themselves from the harmful effects of the sun.
